Louisville Water Company Biennial Inspections
PROJECT OWNER: Louisville Water Company
LOCATION: LOUISVILLE, KY
COMPLETION: ONGOING SINCE 2006
Louisville Water Company (LWC) manages 27+ major collection and treatment facilities and multiple pump stations located throughout Louisville Metro Area and Bullitt County. With so many structures and processes to inspect, LWC required a recurring contract with a structural engineering firm to continually perform inspections on their structures every 2 years to maintain proper function and prevent possible emergency situations. These inspections consist of an onsite assessment of a scheduled portion of the facilities to observe local failures and signs of distress, corrosion, or deterioration.
Cornerstone was hired in 2007 to perform these inspections. The inspection includes a written report for each facility visited, highlighting any recommendations for extending the usable life of the structure along with a risk/priority rating value which quantifies the urgency in which it should be addressed.
LWC has been a partner with Cornerstone for over a decade. We contribute our continued success to our responsive and diligent onsite personnel, who effectively communicate any potential areas of distress and coordinate a cost-effective recommendation that can be implemented in the field. Through these assessments, we have been able to monitor distressed areas and provide options for repair long before they impeded the process and production of safe clean water for all of Louisville.
