JCPS George Unseld Early Childhood Center

Cornerstone was commissioned for design of a new preschool center in Jefferson County in early 2012. Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) required construction completion by August of 2013.  The time frame set by JCPS forced a very short design period and accelerated construction schedule.  Cornerstone worked within the compressed six-week design schedule to push the project through.

Cornerstone provided structural engineering services for the new education center. The building is an approximately 47,000 square feet facility. It was constructed with load bearing CMU exterior walls and a steel joist roof framing system.  Cornerstone was responsible for all design and detailing aspects of the structural components.  The building is primarily one story, with three large second story penthouse areas for mechanical equipment storage. Cornerstone also provided construction administration services.
