KFC YUM! Center Special Inspections
CONTRACTOR: M.A. Mortenson Co.
PROJECT OWNER: Louisville Arena Authority
LOCATION: LOUISVILLE, KY
BUDGET: $ 238 MILLION
COMPLETION: 2010
The Louisville Arena Authority in Kentucky required special inspections to be performed for the new KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville. With a massive scope and a wide range of structural materials, a special inspector with adequate experience and dedication was needed in order to ensure the final building was in compliance with codes and construction documents, while also coordinating with the contractor and communicating with the design team.
Cornerstone served as the Structural Inspector of Record (SIR) for the Louisville Arena Project. The Louisville Downtown Arena consisted of auger cast pile foundations, six reinforced concrete decks, a reinforced pan joist floor system, and a structural steel roof-truss and concrete superstructure system. Also included in this project are two 3-level parking garage structures, each consisting of reinforced concrete frames and a reinforced post-tension concrete pan joists floor system. Cornerstone provided special inspections for this project and worked closely with the Structural Engineer of Record (SER) resolving construction concerns and site-related issues as they arose, resulting in a quality final product. In addition, Cornerstone submitted a final report to the state of Kentucky documenting compliance.
