The Readiness Center supports the 1204th Aviation Support Battalion and Company A 1204th Aviation Support Battalion units, which have an authorized strength of 402 soldiers as they prepare for overseas deployment. The project includes a new 88,785 sq. ft. Readiness Center and the infrastructure to support the facility. Features inside the facility include administrative offices, storage facilities, classrooms and an assembly hall. Additional on-site exterior features include parking for military and privately-owned vehicles, fencing, sidewalks, exterior fire protection, outside lighting, access roads, detached facility sign, wash platform, and helipad.
Physical security measures have been incorporated into the design including maximum feasible standoff distance from roads, parking areas, and vehicle unloading areas, berms, heavy landscaping, and bollards to prevent access when standoff distance cannot be maintained.
The new $19.5 million federally funded facility is located on 32 acres of land in Burlington, Kentucky. The facility will house two Kentucky Army National Guard Units with the 1204th Aviation Support Battalion.
The project will be LEED Silver self-certified.
